Powerhouse Museum has been established for over 125 years

Powerhouse Museum is the main branch of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences in Sydney, the other branch is the Sydney Observatory. Although often referred to as the science museum, Powerhouse has a diverse collection that includes all types of technology including Decorative arts, science, communications, transportation, costumes, furniture, media, computer technology, space technology and steam engines.
This museum has been established for over 125 years, and is home to about 400,000 artegak, many of whom exhibited or put in place now since 1988. The name of the museum comes from an electric tramway power station on the outskirts of the city Ultimo in the Inner West, originally built in 1902. The museum is quite famous and a tourist destination in Sydney. The museum has published a quarterly magazine called Powerline, given free to members and available at the museum.
