Jat Airways is the national airline and belongs to Serbia

Jat Airways is the national airline and belongs to Serbia and the former national carrier of Yugoslavia, based in Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. It operates scheduled international flights to 37 destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, simultaneously also charter flights and aircraft leasing.

The company was founded on June 17, 1927 under the name Aeroput (Аеропут). The first international flights conducted in 1929 between Belgrade and Graz (Austria). By 1937, the development of international routes and increase the number of passengers allowed Aeroput to buy Lockheed Model 10 Electra. Aeroput continue its operation until World War II. On April 1, 1947, the airline's name changed to JAT - Jugoslovenski aerotransport (Југословенски аеротранспорт), then became JAT Yugoslav Airlines Jat Airways and eventually became in January 2003.
